Shakshuka is a wonderfully aromatic dish from North African cuisine that pairs perfectly with the intense flavour of Josty Black Seed Oil. This simple preparation is both hearty and filling, and the addition of black seed oil gives it a special touch.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons Josty black cumin oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 red pepper, cut into strips
- 1 yellow pepper, cut into strips
- 1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 eggs
- Fresh parsley or coriander for garnish (optional)
Preparation:
-
Sauté the onions in a pan until translucent.
-
Add the chopped garlic and pepper strips and fry for another 5 minutes until soft.
-
Add the chopped tomatoes and the spices (cumin, paprika, salt and pepper). Mix everything well and simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
-
Use a spoon to make small indentations in the tomato sauce and carefully crack an egg into each one. Cover the pan and poach the eggs over a low heat for about 5-7 minutes, until the whites are set but the yolks are still slightly runny.
-
Garnish the shakshuka with Josty black cumin oil, fresh parsley or coriander and serve hot.
